Nonprofit work is near and dear to my heart.  I spent over 18 years serving within Luzerne County, wearing many hats at The Luzerne Foundation.  It wasn't until my three-year-old granddaughter Emily was diagnosed with stage 4 high-risk neuroblastoma that I became familiar with the ThinkBIG Pediatric Cancer Fund.  The support that ThinkBIG offered my family was a blessing as they navigated the challenges of Emily's treatment.  
 
Even as she was promoted to heaven after nearly 11 months of treatment,  ThinkBIG was there to assist with funeral expenses. The care and compassion displayed to my family left an indelible imprint of gratitude on my heart. 
 
Shortly after Emily’s passing, I became a Board Member of ThinkBIG and served for nearly four years until serving as executive director became a reality. How could I say “no” to giving back and helping other families during their journey? 
 
I believe that my family's experience taught me so many lessons that will help me serve others as they navigate pediatric cancer.
